Why I'm Starting This Blog
I’ve sat down to write this post more times than I’d like to admit. Every time, I got a few sentences in and closed the tab, not sure I had anything worth saying. What finally changed my mind wasn’t a big revelation — it was just getting tired of feeling like I had to have it all figured out before I was allowed to talk about it.
So here’s the honest version: MS is part of my life now, and I’m still working out what that means day to day. Some of it I’ve made peace with. Some of it I’m still angry about. Most of it falls somewhere in between — a slow, ongoing process of learning what works, what doesn’t, and how to keep showing up for my life anyway.
Why write about it publicly?
A few reasons, honestly:
- When I went looking for other people’s stories early on, a lot of what I found was either clinical and impersonal, or so relentlessly positive it didn’t feel real. I wanted to add something more ordinary to that mix — the unglamorous, in-progress version.
- Writing helps me think. Putting a hard week into words does more for me than just carrying it around silently.
- If even one person reads this and feels a little less alone in it, that’s worth putting myself out there.
What to expect here
I’m not planning to turn this into a highlight reel, and I’m also not planning to turn it into a symptom log nobody wants to read. Somewhere in between: real updates, things I’m learning, strategies that are working (and ones that flopped), and probably some posts that are just about having a bad day and needing to say so.
I don’t know exactly what shape this blog will take yet — I think that’s something I’ll figure out by actually writing it, post by post. If you’re here, thank you for reading along while I do.
